In view of a Bharat Bandh called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and supported by major non-NDA parties and trade unions on September 27 from 6 am to 4 pm, the State Government on Saturday issued a guideline for all its employees of all major offices in Bhubaneswar to join duty latest by 9.30 am.
Home Department Special Secretary Santosh Bala issued an advisory to all Secretaries to instruct their officers and employees working at the Lokseva Bhawan, Kharavela Bhawan, Rajiv Bhawan and the Heads of Department Building to reach office early on the Bandh day to facilitate their smooth entry.
The Government apprehends that the protestors may stop movement of vehicles and picket before Government offices, banks and educational institutions and main thoroughfares of the city.
Bala further asked to close the front gate of Lokseva Bhavan latest by 10.15 am and allow passages by the rear gates. Entries of visitors to these office buildings would be restricted on the bandh day; only persons with prior appointments would be allowed.
The bandh call has been given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha demanding scraping of the three controversial farm laws. While the Congress and Left parties support the strike, trade unions, farmers’ organisations and bank employees’ forums also support the bandh call.
