State logs 623 new Covid cases, 6 deaths

The State on Sunday reported 623 new Covid-19 cases in 26 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally mounted to 10,20,244.Among those newly infected were 95 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.In the last 24 hours, 62,917 samples were tested and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1 per cent. The active cases stood at 5,736.

Notably, the State had reported 695 cases on Saturday. Out of the new 623 cases, 362 were from quarantine and 261 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day’s highest 262 cases followed by Cuttack with 74, Jagatsinghpur 29, Baleswar 28, Jajpur 28, Mayurbhanj 18, Sambalpur 15,  Angul and Bhadrak 13 each, Ganjam 12, Kendrapada 10.The districts detecting below-10 cases were Dhenkanal and Puri seven each,  Jharsuguda and Sundargarh six each, Koraput and Nayagarh four each, Bargarh and Keonjhar  three each,  Deogarh two and Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Subarnapur one each. Besides, 63 cases were reported from the State pool. Six more patients succumbed to the disease in the State in last 24 hours, pushing the total death toll to 8,134. Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khordha, Koraput and Mayurbhanj districts reported one death each. However, 746 persons recovered in last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 10,07,066.
