UP crosses 9 cr Covid vaccination mark

Setting another record, UP’s Covid vaccination coverage breached the nine-crore mark on Wednesday. The state has administered a total of 9.01 crore anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses so far since the launch of the nationwide vaccination drive in January.

 

"Uttar Pradesh is racing past other Indian states in attempting to mitigate the anticipated third wave of COVID-19 through vaccination," a government spokesman said here on Wednesday.

 

UP administered over 3,61,787 doses of vaccine by 7 pm on September 15 taking the total tally to 9,01,51,915. The focused Covid vaccination drive in the state has ensured that more than 1,53,61,007 people are fully vaccinated in the state while more than 7,47,90,908 people have taken the first dose .

 

Uttar Pradesh took almost 100 days to touch the figure of one crore vaccinations. It then took 45 days to cross the two-crore mark and 59 more days to reach five crore. The state then took 14 days to reach six crore vaccination mark and then 11 more days to cross seven crore vaccinations on August 28. It took just nine more days to go past the eight-crore mark on September 7.The state crossed the landmark of administering nine crore Covid vaccine doses on September 15.

 

19 NEW +VE CASES: Meanwhile, UP reported 19 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday as 34 districts became free of the deadly virus with no fresh or active case and only nine out of the 75 districts witnessing fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

 

No fresh and active case in Aligarh, Amroha, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Basti, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Etah, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Mahoba, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rampur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Sultanpur and Sonbhadra indicates complete elimination of the fatal virus from nearly 45 per cent of the state.

 

“Despite fresh cases being the state with the highest population density in the country, the Yogi-led state has also been registering a steady decline in the number of active Covid cases in comparison to several other sparsely populated states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The active caseload in Uttar Pradesh stands at 182,” a government spokesman said here on Wednesday.

 

Becoming self-reliant in terms of producing the life-saving fluid, as many as 409 of the 555 oxygen plants have been established and are functional while work on the rest is going on in Uttar Pradesh.

 

Twenty-five oxygen plants were already functional in the state before the government took the step of setting up more at a rapid pace to ensure the availability of sufficient medical oxygen in view of any possible future requirement.
