Vaccination control room comes up in Jamshedpur

The health department has come up with a COVID-19 control room in the district surveillance office. A circular to this effect was issued by the Health Department on Thursday.

District Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sahir Pal informed that the control room comprises of senior officials of the health department. The team members will meet daily in the evening to monitor the storage and transportation of the vaccine. He went on to inform that the room has been at the forefront of compiling COVID-19-related data.

“The team has been given different sets of responsibilities, it will become easier for them to focus on specific challenges and take up the matter during the meetings,” said another official.

He informed all members of the Control Room will meet every week and plan the future course of action in the vaccination programme. The members of the control room will also identify various challenges in running the immunization programme.

The team will create a database of beneficiaries, arranging cold chains for proper maintenance of the Covid-19 vaccine, extensively disseminating the vaccination work, checking the suitability of the vaccination session site, one day before vaccination all the designated vaccination centers and related cold chain centers will be inspected and cells have been formed for successful implementation of the vaccination and to maintain law and order and peace during the vaccination session.

The vaccine, it said, will generate protective levels of antibodies in the body in two weeks after taking the second dose.

The district administration is all set to administer the COVID -19 vaccines to health workers from January 16. The drive will first start from MGM Medical College and Hospital. About 8000 health workers have been registered for the initiative.  According to the district administration, eight centres have been set up for the initiative. These include MGM Medical College, Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Urban CHC Birsnagar, Sadar Hospital Khasmahal, CHC Potka, CHC Bahragora, CHC Patmada and CHC Ghatshila.
