The Delhi Jal Board on Wednesday said that water supply will remain affected in parts of the national Capital due to high level of ammonia in the Yamuna River.
A senior DJB official said that due to less inflow in river Yamuna at Wazirabad pond, the production from various water treatment plants such as Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla is getting affected due to which water is likely to be available at low pressure for three to four days or till the quality of raw water in the river improves.
It may be noted that water up to 1 PPM can be treated and it was 7.6 PPM on Tuesday and even on Monday it was beyond the prescribed limit.
“Haryana is not only transmitting pollutant water but has also reduced the level of water that it should maintain. The water they are transmitting is untreatable and the pollutants cannot be diluted. We have been forced that neither can we make the water clean and pollutant-free nor can the water treatment plants function in 100 per cent capacity. This is the poisonous water that is being supplied to us by the Haryana government,” DJB vice chairman Raghav Chadha had said on Tuesday.
The areas likely to be affected are Part of West Delhi, North Delhi, Central Delhi and South Delhi including Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi Municipal Council areas, the DJB said in a statement..
