In a highly unusual incident, a newborn baby boy, who had been declared dead at the Karanjia Sub-Divisional Hospital in Mayurbhanj district but was found alive at the funeral on Wednesday, died during treatment on Thursday.
Reports said Raimani, wife of Sunia Munda of Khadikapada village in Saharpada block in Keonjhar district, had been admitted to the hospital after she complained of labour pain. After she gave birth to the baby, the newborn was pronounced dead by the concerned doctor.
Wrapping the baby in a bag, the woman and her family members returned to their village. Shockingly, they newborn started crying before the burial during the funeral.
They brought back the baby to the hospital and demanded action against the doctor.
The mother-baby duo was then admitted to the hospital. However, the baby died last while undergoing treatment on Thursday morning. Hospital sources said the baby was a premature one and his condition was critical.
