Demanding shifting of the Orissa High Court to State capital Bhubaneswar, members of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association on Friday launched fresh agitation staging a dharna near the main gate of the court complex here.
Leaders of the association pointed out that since 2013 they have been holding the agitation every month. The movement was withdrawn during the last two years because of the Covid pandemic.
They said that while other State capitals have High Courts of their respective States, Bhubaneswar is still deprived of the location of the Orissa High Court even though the capital city is well-connected to all parts of the State.
The agitation programme was joined by senior advocates Prasanna Patnaik, Sivananda Ray, Atmaprakash Mohanty, Ashoka Kumar Patra, Sudhir Mohanty, SKS Subudhi, Lingaraj Sahoo and Bar president Rabi Narayan Samantray, vice-president Abhimanyu Swain, secretary Raj Kishore Das and oragnisation secretary Ashok Barpanda.
