World AIDS Day was celebrated on Thursday by the Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Bhopal under the guidance of Executive Director Prof (Dr) Ajai Singh.
The theme of 'World AIDS Day'for this year was ‘Equalized: Ending inequality and eliminating AIDS. Various activities were conducted for the general public awareness about HIV virus and AIDS.The activities involved distribution of Red ribbons and informative materials to the patients and their relatives.They were also sensitised about HIV virus,it's mode of transmission,preventive measures, HIV law and rights of HIV positive patients by Microbiology faculties and Integrated counselling and testing centre (ICTC)Staff.
An awareness quiz was also conducted for the general public which was followed by distribution of prizes to the winners. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries Acting Executive Director Dr Bertha AD Rathinam, Dean Research and HOD Microbiology Prof (Dr) Debasis Biswas,Dean Student Welfare Dr Balakrishanan S.,Dean Examination Dr Bhavana Sharma and DDA Col (Dr) Ajit Singh.
