2 factories sans NOC from DFS catch fire

Two fire incidents were reported in two factories in separate areas of the national Capital on Thursday. A man died and six were injured after a blaze at a factory in northeast Delhi's Mustafabad area.

Another fire broke out at a cello tape manufacturing factory in outer Delhi's Bawana Industrial Area, however, no casualties were reported in the incident. The irony is that both the factories did not have No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

This incident comes days after a massive fire broke out at a factory in outer Delhi's Mundka area in which at least 27 people died and 16 were injured.

A 42-year-old man identified as Inderjeet Pandey, a resident of Pushta Sonia Vihar was killed and six others were injured after a fire at an electric items manufacturing factory in Mustafabad.

According to Atul Garg, Director, DFS, a call about the blaze was received at 12.17 P.M. following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

“The fire broke out on the first floor of a factory manufacturing electric items (inverter, stabliser etc), injuring seven people who were rushed to the GTB Hospital. Of them, one person was declared dead and another person is in a serious condition. The building is spread over an area of about 200 square yards,” said Garg, adding that blaze was brought under control at 1 P.M.Police said Pandey succumbed to burn injuries. He was a worker at the factory, a senior police official said.    In another incident on Thursday around 11:45 A.M, a fire broke out at a cello tape manufacturing factory in Bawana Industrial Area on Thursday. No casualties were reported in the incident.“A call about the fire at the factory was received at 11:45 am and so far 17 fire tenders have been rushed to the site,” said Garg.Brijendra Kumar Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outer north area said the fire broke out on the third floor of the factory and cello tapes were manufactured in the factory in which thinner is also used.“With the help of fire service, the blaze was completely doused by 2:30 P.M. and no one was injured in this incident. The factory owner has been identified as Santosh, a resident of Maharana Pratap enclave in Pitampura here,” said DCP. A case has been registered against factory owner under Section 285 (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), he added. The cause of blaze is suspected to be a short-circuit, fire officials said.
