AIIMS-R official killed in road accident, 14 injured

A 35-year-old nursing       officer of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here was killed and 14 others were injured on Tuesday when a bus they were in plunged into a culvert in Bastar district in Chhattisgarh.

The incident took place when the 15 occupants, including 13 nursing officers of AIIMS-R, were headed to a tourist destination in Jagdalpur, Bastar Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Meena said.

The driver lost control over the steering possibly because he fell asleep            following which the bus           initially hit a slab and then fell into a culvert near Bhanpuri village, Meena said. An Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Sumesh C, died on the spot. Fourteen others were injured.

The police admitted two nursing staffers at community health centre in Bhanpuri. Twelve others including the driver were shifted to the Jagdalpur Medical College for better treatment.
