B’pur Mahotsav helps promote local art, culture

For effective development and preservation of our artistic and cultural posterity, there is a need to conduct annual fest both at regional and national level, said Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro in his address on the second day of the Brahmapur Mahanagar Mahotsav here on Wednesday. The 10th Mahanagar Mahotsav which reached its 3rd day on Thursday at THE Khallikote University play ground had Patro as chief guest.

 

He further said that, such fest is the most viable medium to keep our art and culture alive. Such fests are being organised by different socio-cultural organisations as well as by the State Government in different places of the State Capital at Bhubaneswar almost round the year, he added. Vice-Chancellor of Khallikote Unitary University Prof Prafulla Kumar Mohanty who also graced the event as guest in his address appreciated the efforts of the organisers for conducting such fests.

 

President of the Mahotsav Committee Narayan Mohankud presided.

On the third evening, assistant secretary of the Mahotsav Committee Rashmita Panigrahi, PRO Sudipta K Sahu, Swadhin Patra, Abhiram Patra, Ananta Pradhan and Sankar Rana managed and coordinated the event.

 

Later, some known persons and institutions were felicitated for excellence in the domains of art, literature, culture, and dance. The students of NIIST performed rock-band on the dais which thrilled the audience, sources said.
