BKU leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni asks farmers not to receive court summons

Friday, 21 January 2022 | PNS | Chandigarh

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni on Thursday asked the farmers in Haryana not to appear in the Courts in connection with the cases registered against them by state police during the year-long farmers’ agitation against three central farm laws.

Chaduni, in a video message released, asked the farmers not to receive the summons from the Court and in case they have received the summons, they should not appear in the Court. “Many farmers are receiving summons from the Court in Haryana due to the cases registered against them. The farmers’ unions had reached a consensus with the Haryana Government that it will withdraw the cases against the farmers. The procedure of withdrawing the cases is already going on… But the cases which have reached the Court may take a longer time for withdrawal,” he said.

The farmers’ leader also said that they are closely monitoring the procedure of withdrawal of cases against the farmers and two meetings have been held with the CID chief, who has been appointed by the State Government to hold talks on the issue. Notably, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had last month informed that 276 cases were registered against the farmers during the year-long agitation. Among them, four cases are registered under serious offences of murder, rape etc. The State Government will withdraw all the cases registered against farmers except cases involving heinous crimes such as rape, murder, he said.
