A world-class Cath Lab (Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory) to treat heart diseases was inaugurated at WellMark Hospital in Bokaro on Saturday.

 This is the first cath lab set up in a district inaugurated by Dr Abhay Bhushan Prasad Civil Surgeon Bokaro. Equipped with state-of-the-art disease treatment resources and constant availability of specialists, it has established ourselves as a trusted center, said Dr Satish Kumar Chairman of WellMark Hospital.

“On this move we have established a cath-lab for the treatment of Heart, Heart Block and other complex diseases,” he added.

“The cath lab is at the forefront of cardiovascular care. It enables real-time diagnostics, intervention procedures, and open surgery, which will allow for the use of minimally invasive interventions in situations where open surgery was previously regarded to be the only choice,” said Dr. Satish.

A catheter is inserted into a large artery, and various wires and devices can be inserted through the body via the catheter which is inside the artery, said Dr Anupam Kumar Singh, Director of WellMark Hospital.

“Presently, besides open heart surgery, we are providing Angiography, Angioplasty, Pacemaker, ICD, CRT, Valvoplasty, Device Shunt closer, Vascular interventions. Though, EPS and RFA, Dialysis and Brain Stroke management and Ventilators support facilities are also available at WellMark,” he added.

Now-a-days, treatment for heart problems, costing several lakh rupees, is available here at a very cost-effective rate (in compression to the corporate) without any hassle with the help of state-of-the-art machines, said Dr Anupam.

"We will soon make chemotherapy and radiotherapy services available for cancer patients here at WellMark," he said.

On Friday, WellMark Hospital, Bokaro in association with Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Ranchi started OPD, an online consultancy and Emergency Management service for the patients at Bokaro.   

Specialist doctors from Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Hospital will be available for consultation and treatment every month on the first and third Friday. 

Dr Anand Srivastava, Consultant, Medica Hospital, said that to provide ‘expert consultation’ to the patients in and around Bokaro, the WellMark Hospital will run super-specialty clinics from 10 am to 2 pm on the first and third Fridays of every month. 

Nephrologist Dr Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Oncologist Dr Gunjesh Kumar Singh, Gastroenterologist Dr Antriksh Kumar and Urologist Dr Kumar Mrigank would be available for consultation in this clinic. 

Besides, others Suresh Kumar, Director WellMark Hospital, Arvind Singh, Rajeev Kumar and hospital staff were present during the inaugural session.
