Chhatra Cong starts signature drive

Wednesday, 29 June 2022 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Demanding immediate withdrawal of the Agnipath scheme being implemented by the Central Government, the Chhatra Congress on Tuesday started a signature campaign from the Biju Patnaik College here.

Chhatra Congress State president Yashir Nawaaz said the Modi Government which had  came to power with a promise of at two crore jobs annually, has launched a started short-duration job scheme like Agniveer, which would not benefit youths of the country and would rather make them beggars.

He said the Government which had stopped recruitments for the Indian Army since 2019 and derailed the process of recruitment of average 50,000 people in the Army annually, is now arguing for Agniveer.

“The job has no pension and gratuity provisions and can’t access canteens. What would they do after four years; will they work as security guards in BJP offices and tend grasses,” questioned Nawaaz.
