CM’s home town ranks first in East Zone, second in country

Among small towns, Chhattisgarh’s Patan (Durg district) was ranked first in the East Zone and second in the country in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2022.

Ambikapur maintained its standing among clean cities. Chhattisgarh stood second in the category of Best Performing State.

State Urban Administration and Development Minister Shiv Dahariya received the award from Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.

Department Joint Secretary R. Ekka and the Chief Executive Officer and Mission Director (SUDA) Saumil Ranjan Choubey were also present, an official communication said.

Among the cities with a population of more than one lakh, Ambikapur stood at number one in the state and Korba at number two. Raipur secured the second place among cities with a population more than 10 lakh.

Balodabazar was rewarded with Citizen Feedback Award in the      category of population  of 25-50,000 in East Zone. Along with this, eight cities of Chhattisgarh won the Indian Cleanliness League (ISL) in the cleanliness      survey.

The 7th edition of Swachh Survekshan was conducted to study the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and ranked Urban Local Bodies based on various cleanliness and sanitation parameters.
