Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hosted a sanitation worker and his family from Gujarat over lunch at his residence in the national Capital on Monday.
Harsh Solanki, a sanitation worker from Gujarat and his family also visited a Delhi Government school and a hospital. Solanki presented a portrait of BR Ambedkar to Kejriwal.
During the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Town Hall meeting with sanitation workers, predominantly from the Dalit community, in Ahmedabad on Sunday, Solanki had been invited by Kejriwal to have a meal at his house.
“Today, Harsh Solanki, his mother Lata Solanki and sister Suhani Solanki have come to visit Delhi from Gujarat. They came to my residence on my invitation to have lunch with my family. My family and I had a splendid time while having lunch with them. I thank them for travelling so far and giving us an opportunity to host them. I will go to their homes to have a meal with them when I visit Ahmedabad next time,” said Kejriwal.
Harsh Solanki said that it was a proud moment for him that for the first time in 75 years, a leader had invited a common man to have a meal at his residence.“When I invited Arvind Kejriwal to have a meal at my place, not only did he accept my invitation cordially but to my surprise, he also invited me to have a meal at his residence first. I am having a wonderful experience. Earlier, I went to a school and a mohalla clinic run by Delhi Government and I felt really happy to see the facilities there for the welfare of people of Delhi,” said Solanki.
“I am yet to believe that it is not a dream but reality. When I go back to Gujarat, I will tell the people about development brought by Kejriwal Government in Delhi,” said Solanki.
Earlier in the day, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha had received Solanki and his family at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Solanki and his family also visited Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, West Vinod Nagar where they were received by the principal and the school staff.
