With an objective to encourage the traditional sports activities in state, Chhattisgarhia Olympics is going to held for the first time in Chhattisgarh from October 6, 2022 to January 6, 2023.
Preparations for the sports competition are underway in full swing. To review the preparations a meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee constituted for the competitions was held at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan) under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain.
In the meeting Chief Secretary directed the departmental officers to constitute organizing committees for each level of sports by October 5.
Officials were also directed to ensure proper arrangement of sports grounds, venue, necessary sports equipment, referees, judges, first aid, drinking water, cleanliness and mobile toilets etc for each level of the competitions.
According to the guidelines and action plan 14 types of traditional sports have been included for the competition which includes Gilli Danda, Pitthool, Sankhali, Langdi Daud, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Banti (Kancha) for group category, and Billas, Fugdi, Gedi Daud, Bhanwara (spinning top), 100 meter run and long jump for single category.
People of three different age-groups can participate in the sports competition namely age upto 18 years, then 18-40 years, and those above 40 years of age. The competition will be organized separately for male and female categories.
