A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Court here on Saturday awarded rigorous imprisonment (RI) till death to a man for kidnapping and raping a minor girl two years ago.
Amit Bindhani (45) had kidnapped a 10-year-old girl from Bidanasi here with the help of his wife Asha Lohar on July 18, 2019. The court also
sentenced Asha to undergo (RI) for 20 years.
The prosecution case maintained that the couple taken the girl to Jamshedpur soon after kidnapping her from a slum near Satichoura Square. At Jamshedpur, Amit raped the girl for nearly eight days before the couple was apprehended by the city police and rescued the girl.
The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on Asha, in default RI for another six months.
Considering the age of the victim and the ordeal she faced, the court
awarded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to her.
