For the first time after a gap of two years of the corona pandemic, devotees will be allowed on the Snan Bedi (bathing altar) of the Jagannath Temple here to have darshan of the deities on the auspicious occasion of Deba Snan Purnima this year.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced this following a meeting with Daitapati Nijog servitors on Thursday.
SJTA official Durga Dash Mohapatra said the devotees would be allowed atop the bathing altar for two hours after the deities’ Hati Besha. However, they cannot touch the deities.
While there will be Parimanik (paid) darshan during Pahandi of the deities to the Snana Bedi, devotees would not be charged for darshan on the Snan Mandap, he added.
Dash Mohapatra also said the SJTA is considering to hold the Rath Yatra this year in the presence of devotees if the Covid situation continues to remain under control.
