A minor girl of Maitali village in the Nilgiri area in Baleswar district allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself following failure in a love relationship.
Police began investigation into the matter based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother. The cops have seized a suicide note in which the girl alleged that her lover exploited her under the pretext of marriage.
Later, he betrayed her by refusing to marry her. Unable to bear the mental agony and humiliation, she decided to take the extreme step and end her life, the suicide note stated.
In another incident, an abandoned newborn was rescued from the Soro are by some locals and handed over to the Childline Reports said the newborn was found dumped underneath the over-bridge on the National Highway-16 in the scorching heat . The locals after hearing his cries rescued the child, reports said.
