Saturday, 29 January 2022 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday called for strict action against illegal sand miners. He told the Collectors and Superintendents of Police to check illegal sand mining at all cost.

Baghel also urged the Collectors and the SPs to personally monitor the situation to end illegal mining.

"Collectors and SPs of concerned districts will be personally responsible for the complaints of illegal sand mining received from their district," he said.

"If the complaints are not addressed and no action is taken to stop illegal sand mining, district officials concerned will be held accountable and strict disciplinary action will be taken against them”, he said.

The Chief Minister took into serious account reports of illegal sand mining and transportation by sand mafia in the state. He told the Mining Department to take stern action against the mafia.

He said the state was facing loss in revenue due to illegal sand mining and transportation. Hence, regular inspection should be conducted in the areas from where complaints of illegal mining and transportation of sand were received.
