Govt’s top priority to empower every farmer in State: CM

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that today is a very special day for Jharkhand as it will be written in the name of Birsa farmers, who are being honoured by organising a function simultaneously in more or less all the blocks of the State. More than 10 lakh Annadatas are participating in these celebrations. About one lakh farmers are being linked with Kisan Credit Card on this occasion. The CM was addressing the Palamu divisional level Birsa Kisan Samaroh organised in Latehar district on Thursday.

The CM said that the government is committed to promote agriculture and farmers. Annadata should become strong and self-supporting. There has been a radical change in the lives of the farmers. For this the government has started many schemes. Join these schemes and contribute with yourself in taking the state on the path of progress.

He said that the government is determined to double the income of Birsa farmers. The government is promoting agricultural entrepreneurship. In the agriculture sector, production is being increased by using new techniques, innovations and modern equipment. In this episode, in order to ensure that farmers do not face any shortage of capital, in the last 5 months only Rs.1313 crore has been approved under KCC. Due to which 1 lakh 25 thousand farmers have benefited.

The CM said that there should be no shortage of funds with the farmers for farming. For this, financial assistance is being given to them through KCC. Instructions have been given to the officials to ensure that the farmers get fertilizers and seeds on time.

He said that after the formation of a separate state, in the last 20 years in Jharkhand, only Rs 400 crore loans of farmers were waived. At the same time, our government has given approval for loan waiver of Rs 900 crore to the farmers. Not only this, work is being done to give the benefit of KCC again to the farmers whose loans have been waived off.

The CM said that the government has started many schemes for the employment, self-reliance, empowerment and development of the people of the state. It is our endeavor that the people of this state can get the benefit of all the schemes of the government. The public also needs to play an important role in this.

The CM, on the occasion informed that after 32 years, agriculture officers have been appointed in the state to provide support to the farmers in better and improved agricultural work. Under the Chief Minister Pashudhan Yojna, financial assistance is being given for rearing cows, goats, pigs, ducks, fish and other animals. Under the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Scheme, grant-based loans ranging from Rs. 50 thousand to Rs. 25 lakh are being given to the youth for self-employment.

All the hostels under the Welfare Department are being renovated. Here now the arrangement of cook, watchman and food will be provided by the government. The products manufactured by Sakhi Mandals under the Palash brand are being made available in the market by the government. The government has set a target of Rs 1000 crore turnover for these products. Under the Phoolo Jhano Ashirwad Yojna, about 25 thousand women selling locally made alcoholic drinks have been linked with other employment.

Women, Child Development and Social Security Minister Joba Manjhi, Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Badal, MLAs Vaidyanath Ram and Ramchandra Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Agriculture Secretary Abu Bakr Siddiq, Palamu Divisional Commissioner, DIG and Several officials including Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Medininagar, Garhwa and Latehar were present at the function.
