BJP ruled MCDs not carrying out development work, says AAP

STAFF REPORTER n NEW DELHI

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the BJP ruled MCDs of not carrying out any development work despite taking money from MLA-Local Area Development funds.

AAP senior leader and MLA Somnath Bharti said that the Delhi government has widened and repaired many roads that come under Public Works Department but cannot improve roads that come under Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

“I gave money from MLA funds for widening the road connecting the Press Enclave road with Malviya Nagar intersection and work order got sanctioned but local BJP councilor Dr Nandani Sharma did not let the work start. Standing Committee Chairman Col Oberoi did not even let the resolution for the project pass even after four years of keeping MLA-LAD funds because of BJP Councillor Nandini Sharma's pressure,” he alleged.

“It has happened many times that SDMC have taken funds from MLAs but have not done any work because of pressure of BJP councillors. Kejriwal Government's departments charge 1/3rd the amount MCD charges for projects. I appeal to the people that the works under MCD should be initiated only after the upcoming elections, so that your work can also be done in time, be of best quality and money is not misused in rampant corruption,” he added.

Replying to charges, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said “It seems that there is a competition of levelling allegations between AAP leaders and MLA Somnath Bharti too has joined the fray by alleging that the BJP Councilors are not allowing MLA-LAD works in the area.”

“Before levelling such allegation Bharti should ponder why Councilors will stop any development fund in their area and invite wrath of local citizens and RWAs. According to information from local civic office the works have been delayed due to technical reason,” he said.
