A four-day-long dharna by journalists of Brahmapur in front of the main gate of MKCG Medical College Hospital here ended on Thursday following a discussion with Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
The journalists had been holding the stir for last four days protesting against the apathy of the State Government for neglecting the premier MCH. During discussion with Speaker Patro, the agitators drew his attention to various problems in the hospital including a dearth of senior and super-specialised doctors, operationlisation of Burn Care Unit and Trauma Care Center, posting of senior and well experienced doctors in Casualty; and availability of all specialised crucial healthcare services and state of the art equipment. After a threadbare discussion, Patro reportedly assured the striking scribes that he would look into the matter personally and will convene a high-level meeting at Bhubaneswar within a few days.
Meanwhile, Principal of the MKCG Medical College Abanikanta Mishra and Superintendent of the Medical College Prof Santosh Kumar Mishra also met the scribes in front of the main gate of the college and discussed with them on all the issues raised by the scribes and reportedly requested them to suspend their dharana. The journalists also met the RDC (Southern Division) and held a detailed discussion on the problems of the MKCG.
