Moosewala killed in revenge for Middukhera's murder, says Bishnoi denying his hand in killing

Saturday, 18 June 2022 | Monika Malik | Chandigarh

In a major step forward in the investigations into Sidhu Moosewala brutal killing, gangster and “prime accused” Lawrence Bishnoi has reportedly admitted that globally-renowned Punjabi singer was killed in revenge for the Youth Akali leader and his “college-time friend” Vicky Middukhera’s broad daylight murder in Mohali in August 2021; while denying his hand in the killing.

Lawrence Bishnoi, as per the reliable police sources, maintained that he got to know about Moosewala’s killing only after the incident. However, the Punjab police have made it clear that Sidhu Moosewala has been killed on his behest only. “All we need is just to connect the dots,” said a senior police officer.

At the same time, Lawrence Bishnoi claimed that his gang had not fixed any “specific date” for the shootout. The sources also informed that he has also denied the demand for any “protection money” from the slain Punjabi singer.

Available information suggests that the Punjab Police has been able to procure “useful information” from Lawrence Bishnoi — at least to some extent. On his revelations, Punjab police, making another breakthrough, has also arrested one gangster Mohammad Raja from Gopalganj in Bihar on Friday.

Police sources maintained that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had two misgivings about Moosewala in connection with the Middukhera murder case. “One, they believed that Moosewala had financially supported the gang that killed Vicky Middukhera, and gave shelter to the sharpshooters. Second point is that the name of Sidhu Moosewala’s manager, Shagunpreet, had come up during the interrogation of the three shooters in Middukhera murder case. They believed that Shagunpreet fled to Australia and it was Moosewala who helped him to escape from the police net,” sources informed.

During investigations, it was also observed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang was associated with its rival Davinder Bambiha gang.

DENIED TALKING WITH GOLDY BRAR FROM TIHAR

Lawrence Bishnoi, during questioning, has denied talking to Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, while he was lodged at Delhi’s Tihar jail. It was in contrary to the earlier claims that Lawrence Bishnoi had made several calls to Goldy Brar for two months, during which they hatched the entire controversy of Moosewala’s murder. Now, Bishnoi has denied talking with Goldy Brar claiming that Tihar Jail has a lot of strictness leaving no scope of use of mobile phones.

ARMS OBTAINED FROM PAK?

Investigations have also hinted that the weapons or arms, used in Moosewala’s killing, may have been obtained from Pakistan. Sources maintained that |Lawrence Bishnoi came in touch of another gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria in Tihar Jail, where he was lodged till February 2022. Delhi police had interrogated Bhagwanpuria, and during questioning it was revealed that he had made a telephonic contact with Goldy Brar who had ordered some weapons and got them supplied further. It has also been learnt that when the Tihar jail administration got to know about the same, the barrack of Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria was changed.

LAWRENCE BISHNOI’S COUNSEL CLAIMED COPS METING OUT HIM “INHUMAN TREATMENT”

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s counsel on Friday claimed that that the jailed gangster is being given “inhumane treatment” during the interrogation by Punjab Police in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. It has been learnt that his counsel may soon move the court in this regard. Vishal Chopra, Bishnoi’s counsel, alleged that the Punjab Police is “violating the rules” that are required to be followed while interrogating an accused. “We may soon file a writ petition before a competent court bringing out these adversaries in the police’s dealing with the accused,” he said.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been named as an accused and main conspirator in the case, was brought under heavy security to Punjab from Delhi in the early hours of Wednesday. After he was brought from Delhi, Bishnoi was produced before a court in Mansa district which remanded him into seven-day police custody. A Delhi court on Tuesday granted the Punjab Police the transit remand of Bishnoi to take him to Punjab in the case, “with conditions”.
