A cyclonic circulation is likely to form in northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around October 1 and rainfall activities would increase in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
Under its influence, several parts of the State would experience enhanced rainfall activities on October 2 and 3, the Regional Office of the IMD here said.
It is too early to say whether the system will lead to the formation of a low pressure or not. “We have only made a forecast for rainfall and thunderstorm activities in different parts of the State in the next five days. Besides, there is possibility of rainfall on October 2 and 3,” said a weather office official.
At present, the cyclonic circulation over west-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood now lies over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea-level.
On Wednesday, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput, the IMD said, issuing an Yellow Warning.
On Thursday, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Kandhamal and Ganjam.
