The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday signed two MoUs to establish a Mahua Processing Centre in Kondagaon district and a Tamarind Processing Centre in Bastar district.
The agreement was signed under the ‘Vananchal Package’ for setting up processing units of minor forest produce in Bastar division, an official communication said.
The first agreement was signed with Bastar Botanics Pvt Ltd, Kumhar Para, Bastar, for setting up the Mahua Processing Center in Kondagaon district.
The second agreement was with M/s Kosar Agro Pvt Ltd, Pune, for setting up a Tamarind Processing Centre in Bastar district.
According to the agreement, Bastar Botanics will set up the Mahua Distillation Plant at a cost of Rs 4 crore, with a capacity of 600 kiloliters per annum. Food grade Mahua will be used. Most products will be export oriented.
The Tamarind Processing Centre will be set in village Chhindgaon at a cost of Rs. 4.30 crore. Tamarind paste, tamarind seed powder and tamarind bricks will be prepared. The unit’s annual capacity will be 4,500 tonnes per annum.
The products manufactured will be both for within the country and export.
Earlier, a MoU was signed for the processing unit of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi in Kanker district.
