A Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head was killed in a gun battle with the police in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Friday.
The gunfight took place around 10 am in a Borapara forest when the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was on an anti-Naxalite operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma said.
After the fighting ended, the body of a Naxalite was recovered from the spot, the officer said.
The deceased was identified as Kamlesh, a member of the Malanger Area Committee of the Maoists who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
On Thursday, a hardcore Naxalite also with a bounty of Rs 5 lakhs was killed in a gun battle with the police in Dantewada district.
