NHM plans to reduce infant & maternal mortality in U’khand

With an objective of reducing the infant and maternal mortality rate the National Health Mission (NHM) has earmarked the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar for effective implementation of the mother and child health programme. These four districts account for 61 per cent of the population of the State and 69 per cent of total child births of the State takes place in them. The mission director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Sonika chaired a review meeting of the maternal and child health programme on Wednesday. In the meeting the mission director said that the pregnant women coming under the high risk categories should be earmarked and there care should be taken under the new guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matratva Abhiyan. She said that special focus on deployment of human resource in the health centres for increasing the institutional deliveries.  The NHM director Dr Saroj Naithani said that in depth study was conducted for the devising a plan to reduce the infant and maternal mortality  in the districts of  Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Dehradun and Nainital after the implementation of the mother and child health programme.

The meeting was attended by programme officer Dr Amit Sukla, Dr Sujata Singh, Dr Ajay, Dr Nitin Arora, the chief medical officers of the four districts and others.
