With the arrest of nine persons, police claimed to have busted a network which supplied explosives to Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar         district, an official said on Saturday.

The arrested men included Kosa alias Kosa Kawasi, Rameshwar Pujari, Anant Ram Jaiswal, Bal Singh Tamu and Bablu Ram Kuhrami of Bijapur, Maniram and Ujor Bedta of Bastar and Krishna Prasad Sao from West Bengal, Bastar Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Meena said.

They were apprehended on Friday near the  Bastanar-Kakloor check post following a specific tip.

Kawasi is a militia  member while Pujari is a courier for Naxalites, he said, adding that Jaiswal, Tamu, Markam, Kuhrami and Maniram were involved in Naxalite activities for a long time.

Bedta and Sao were explosives suppliers, the officer added.

The police recovered nine booster explosives, cordex wires, 13 detonators, safety fuse and 31 detonators from their possession.

A court sent them to prison.
