One person identified as Dashrath Rawani resident of Bansjora locality died due to roof fall while illegal mining in Block 2 area of BCCL today morning.
The area is under Kharkhari police outpost of Baghmara police station .
According to available reports, hundreds of persons were engaged in illegal mining of coal here when the incident took place. Those involved in this removed some of the injured after the incident. Body of Dashrath was smashed between two rocks but the illegal miners somehow managed to take out the body and handed it over to family members who too were there on spot.
Incidentally, this took over an hour but neither the local police nor any one from BCCL reached till the body was removed by those engaged in illegal mining.
It's believed that select persons connected with the ruling party in the State are involved in illegal mining in the area; this police took little interest in apprehending those involved in illegal mining.
