Oppn making false statements: Sharma

Friday, 28 January 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

Accusing the opposition of misleading the people of Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh said that the opposition, being issueless, was indulging itself in making false statements.

Addressing media persons in Lucknow on Thursday, Sharma said, “In the last five years, Uttar Pradesh has made leaps in every aspect of development, leaving the opposition high and dry. The Bharatiya Janata Party has established a new identity of the state with ease of doing business. If 100 mobile phones are made in the country, 70 of them are made in Uttar Pradesh which can now boast of having Asia's largest data centre.”

“We have improved the image of Uttar Pradesh by changing the educational environment and bringing in investments. Today, the migration of talent has stopped owing to ample opportunities for meritorious students. In the upcoming assembly elections, the BJP will break its own record by winning maximum seats while opposition parties, including Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress together would not reach even three digits.”

Sharma further said that earlier there used to be migration of talent from Uttar Pradesh. "Now, due to proactive steps taken by the Yogi Adityanath government in the education sector in five years, people from more than 14 countries are coming here to study and teach. Happy teachers, stress-free students, employment-oriented education and fair examinations are the four objectives that our government worked upon," the deputy chief minister said.

Sharma said that earlier copying and exam centre allotment had become an industry. “We made the arrangement online. As many as 1.94 lakh CCTV cameras were installed which resulted in a transparent examination system. Also, a time table was prepared for the whole year for studies in colleges and schools. For the first time after independence, the curriculum was changed to make it employment-oriented. UP led the country in online education and examination and created an online library during the COVID-19 period. Sanskrit teachers were appointed in secondary schools. Students of Sanskrit who secured the first ten positions were provided Re 1 lakh and a tablet each while the process was on to set up a Sanskrit directorate in the state," he said.

“Besides, 1.5 lakh teachers were appointed in a transparent manner in basic, secondary and higher education while the remaining posts would be filled soon. In the secondary schools, about 6,000 posts were created simultaneously. A total of 250 secondary schools, 78 degree colleges have been set up and 12 universities are in the process of being set up. What is more, for the first time since independence, college teachers were given the right to conduct research. A total of 1.3 lakh basic schools were renovated under Operation Kayakalp, 771 Kasturba schools were being run. Uniforms, shoes, socks and copy books were distributed free of cost to the children. Girls’ hostels were started in 107 development blocks,” Sharma claimed.
