Demands release of special coin on Lata Mangeshkar

City-based ardent fan of Madhuri Dixit, Pappu Sardar kicked-off the birthday (May 15) celebrations of his favourite actress in style on Saturday late night. Several events including a midnight cake cutting ceremony were lined up for the two-day bash to make the occasion momentous.

Pappu, the man known for his love for Madhuri Dixit, and celebrating the birthday of her idol with a thump, has decorated his small chat shop in the busy market of Sakchi with pictures of dhak dhak girl and other decorative items.

On the occasion, Pappu released a commemorative coin dedicated to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. The coin is especially dedicated to the legendary singer.

“ I have dedicated this coin in memory of the singer who died this year. I have also written letters to the President and Prime Minister to release a commemorative coin to her. It will be a real tribute to the singer,” said Pappu.

The die-hard fan also thanked the administration for allowing to go ahead with the celebrations at such a moment when the city is returning to normal post Covid-19 pandemic. I have been allowed to use the road adjacent to my shop, which I used to distribute chaat free of cost to the people who will cross through his shop.

It may be mentioned that Pappu has been celebrating Madhuri's birthday since mid-90s and shot into the limelight for his attraction towards the actress. In 2008 he even got the opportunity to meet Madhuri. Moreover, his day begins with offering pujas for the actress. Such is his popularity that an American resident carried out research on his personality.

On the eve of Madhuri’s birthday, he spent the day among the inmates of the Cheshire Home and Old Age Home, who are special invitees on this occasion every year. He distributed fruits and gifts to the inmates. Special Indian and Chinese food would be served among children and gifts and other goodies would be distributed.

“I think it is the love of the people that have inspired me to carry the celebrations every year. I try to spread smiles among the needy through the birthday. The best part of my initiates is that people have started visiting Cheshire Home and Old Age Home and started providing helping towards the inmates. I have been approached by many people to distribute food and clothes among the deprived,” said Pappu.
