Vinoba Bhave University has conducted the Ph.D entrance examination after three years. According to the university provision the university has to conduct entrance exams every year, so that maximum post graduate students can complete their research dream.
For registration in Ph.D, there are two ways for the students -- one is NET and DEET examinations. The NET examination is conducted by the UGC (University Grant Commission) every six months on an all India basis. One is in June and second in the month of December.
The DEET (Doctoral Eligibility Entrance Examination) is conducted at the university level. This examination can be conducted by the university that has A grade in NAAC accreditation.
Last time the VBI got the ++B grade from the NAAC team of UGC. After getting the ++B grade, Vinoba Bhave University conducted the DEET exam. After the examination the former vice chancellor of the university said that this exam can be conducted by A grade rank holder university.
The former vice chancellor further said that in the light of the UGC direction we have stopped conducting the examination. After one DEET examination, no examination was conducted by the university.
The Dean of commerce Mokhtar Alam and Social Science Namita Gupta said that they don’t know as to why the university stopped the DEET examination.
The university administration has given emphasis on research work and on other hand they have not conducted the DEET examination in the university.
The registrar of the university Birendra Kumar Gupta said that they are waiting for the direction of the UGC. Further decisions will be taken after the UGC guidelines.
