Polling for two Rajya Sabha seats on June 10

The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notification for the election of two Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in Chhattisgarh.

The last date for filing nominations is May 31 (Tuesday). Their scrutiny will take place on June 1. The last date for withdrawal of names is June 3. Voting will be held on June 10 and the counting of votes will happen after polling gets over at 5 pm.

The notification said that candidates can present nomination papers to the Returning Officer, Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha, till May 31.

Of the 90 members of the Chhattisgarh assembly, 71 of the Congress, 14 of the Bharatiya Janata Party, 3 of the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) and 2 members of the Bahujan Samaj Party will exercise their franchise.

Chhattisgarh has five Rajya Sabha seats. The tenure of two Rajya Sabha members, Ramvichar Netam (BJP) and Chhaya Verma (Congress), will end on June 29.
