A Madhya Pradesh Congress leader has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court regarding EWS reservation. In this, he has opposed the decision to uphold the decision of the Center on EWS issues.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had delivered an important verdict on the EWS quota to be given to the economically weaker sections. A five-judge constitution bench by a 3:2 majority has upheld the validity of the 103rd Amendment Act of the Constitution, which provided for 10% EWS reservation in educational institutions and government jobs.
Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Justice Bela M Trivedi, Justice JB Pardiwala have agreed on EWS reservation. All the three judges believe that this reservation does not violate the constitution. The three judges also held that EWS reservation does not violate the cap of 50 per cent reservation.
