Seven Naxalites surrendered to security forces in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.
They laid down arms on Thursday after being impressed with the state government’s rehabilitation policy, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma said.
The seven -- Madkam Masa, Mandvi Hirma, Madkam Bhima, Madkam Bandi, Madkam Nanda, Sodi Joga and Lachinder -- were involved in several incidents of Naxalite activities, the officer said.
The intelligence unit of CRPF’s 219th Battalion played a significant role in the surrender of these Maoists, he added.
