With the arrest of six persons including the mastermind, Chhattisgarh Police on Friday claimed to have worked out the loot of Rs 8.92 lakhs from employees of a Raipur wrist watch dealer in Mahasamund district.
Mahasamund Additional Superintendent of Police Megha Tembhurkar said those held were Manoj Karwade, Darshan Das Manikpuri, Abhishek Kumar alias Sunny Mahar, Rajesh Soni, Sanjay Yadav and Suresh Kaushal.
Karwade hails from Raipur city. The others are from Durg district.
After Laxminarayan Dewangan and Santosh Sahu on Wednesday reported the crime, the police learnt that Kaushal and the others were following the victims in a Bolero on the day of an incident.
Kaushal, when detained, named Karwade and the rest of the gang, leading to the arrests.
Karwade told the police he was facing a financial crisis after he left a wrist watch dealer’s job. He planned the incident when he learnt that Dewangan was returning with cash from Odisha.
The police recovered Rs 5.90 lakhs in cash, a mobile phone, a motorcycle and the Bolero.
