State’s daily Covid cases dip to 5,057

The State on Friday witnessed a further dip in the Covid-19 positive cases with detection of 5,057 infections in the 30 districts and the State pool. The total tally increased to 12,36,226,

Among the freshly-infected were 667 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

In last 24 hours, 61,635 samples were tested and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 8.20 per cent.

The active cases stood at 64,217.

Notably, the State had recorded 5,901 Covid cases on Thursday.

Out of the new cases, 2,932 cases were from quarantine and 2,135 local contacts.

Khordha district reported the maximum 1,111 cases followed by Cuttack with 495 , Sundargarh 429, Nayagarh 217, Baleswar 202, Nuapada 190, Sambalpur 179, Kalahandi 140, Nabarangpur 136, Mayurbhanj 135, Balangir 133, Jajpur 128, Jagatsinghpur 125, Angul 110, Subarnapur 104, Puri 94, Bhadrak 91, Bargarh 85, Rayagada 85, Kandhamal 84, Koraput 76, Ganjam 60, Dhenkanal 69, Gajapati 68, Malkangiri 58, Deogarh 51, Jharsuguda 50, Boudh 44 and Kendrapada 34 .

Besides, 225 cases were reported State pool.

 

 

In the last 24 hours, 10 more Covid patients died, mounting the total death toll to 8,560.

Two deaths were reported from Khordha district and one each from Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Puri and Rayagada.

However, 10,511 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 11,73,907.

Capital Bhubaneswar registered 1,207 more Covid-19 cases, with which the total tally in the city rose to 1,49,277, The active cases were 11,739.

However, 766 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 1, 36,352.
