State recovery rate improves, yet 12 deaths in a day raises concerns

Five persons die in Jamshedpur, two in Capital

The single day recovery of people affected with coronavirus is more than reported fresh cases in the State on Wednesday. As per daily bulletin released by the health department, on Wednesday (January 19) 2617 fresh cases were reported, while at the same time 3769 people recovered from infection. In the past few days, the number of recovered patients is more than fresh cases. On January 15, 3258 fresh cases were reported across the state, but at the same time 3351 persons recovered from infection.

January 16, witnessed highest recoveries as compared to fresh cases. On January 16, 4114 people recovered from infection while at the same time 2776 fresh cases were reported.

Jharkhand’s Covid-19 tally climbed to 4,12,939 as 2,617 more people tested positive for the virus, while 12 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,225. The single-day deaths include five fresh fatalities in Jamshedpur and two in Ranchi.

An officer with Indian Medical Association said, “Though number of recoveries is more than fresh cases still we are not out of danger, as people with co-morbidities are taking time to recover and many times the infection is becoming fatal for them. In such a situation it is advisable that people take all precautions.”

Ranchi district registered the highest number of new cases at 809, followed by 525 in Jamshedpur. At the same time in Ranchi 851 people recovered from infections, while in East Singhbhum the number of people who recovered from infection was 1015.

The state now has 27,422 active cases, while 3,80,292 people have recovered from the disease so far. Jharkhand tested over 65,047 samples for Covid-19 on Wednesday, taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 191,70,930, the bulletin added.

With fast recovery of persons from infection the Covid 19 recovery in state is fast increasing. The recovery rate stands at 92.09 per cent while the national average is 93.90 per cent. State’s seven day growth rate is .48 per cent which is at par with national average. Similarly, the seven days doubling rate is 144.19 days, while the national average is 173.50 days.

The mortality rate is 1.26 per cent, while the national average is 1.30 per cent.
