Students body demands teaching at Women’s College at Barhi

Monday, 27 June 2022 | PNS | Lohardaga

The students of Women’s College, led by Mamta Kumari, the head of Masmano Panchayat has demanded to start degree studies at Barhi Segratoli of Senha block area located on Lohardaga Bedo main road. The students in this connection submitted a memorandum to  Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha. The students delegation also submitted memorandum to Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Prasad Sahu.

The students body in its memorandum stated that women's college constructed on the Barhi Lohardaga-Bedo main road was  inaugurated on 27 January 2021. The Mahila Mahavidyalaya was inaugurated by the then Governor Draupadi Murmu.

The students body said that there is only one degree college in Lohardaga district—the Baldev Sahu Mahavidyalaya, in which students of Gumla and Latehar study apart from Lohardaga. Being the only college, many students are not even able to get admission. As a result, the education of the students remains incomplete. The impact of poverty is so severe that it is not a matter of all the students to study outside the district. Since people of marginal farmers reside in Lohardaga district, everything is dependent on agriculture. Students also join hands with their household chores and farming and go to college. The delegation included Arvind Oraon, Suraj Kumar, Bablu Oraon, Vinay Oraon, Roopa Kumari, Ritu Kumari and other students were among those who submitted the memorandum.
