From May 1, Department of Microbiology, PGICH Noida has started free of cost ‘Hepatitis B & C Viral load testing for its patients from GB Nagar and adjoining districts of Uttar Pradesh under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP).
Head of Department, Microbiology, PGICH Noida, Professor (Dr.) Sumi Nandwani said that the molecular testing is being done for patients diagnosed with Hepatitis B & C viral infections which affect the liver and can be life threatening.
Viral load testing is useful for starting treatment and monitoring disease progress, she added.
Director, PGICH Noida, Professor (Dr.) Arun Kumar Singh, mentioned that this facility was till now not available in the public sector in the GB Nagar, Ghaziabad and other adjoining districts. “Now availability of this Test free of cost in PGICH, Noida will be highly beneficial for all the patients of the institute and of Other districts in the State.
