All citizens are equal before law: Maurya

Saturday, 25 March 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was punished for his derogatory statement against the backward community and this verdict showed that the law of the country is supreme and all citizens are equal as far as law is concerned.

“The court order proves that no matter how big a person is, if he has committed a crime he will be punished," Maurya said while talking to reporters here on Friday.

“We had condemned the statement of Rahul Gandhi then and even today condemn his utterances against the members of the Backward community. This is despicable that despite being sentenced by the court, Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are justifying those derogatory statements. This shows the mentality of Congress towards backwards,” Deputy CM said.

“If Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders believe that they can abuse the citizens of their own country, then the constitution of the country has given the OBC community the right to approach the court against them,” he said

“Rahul goes abroad and sows the seeds of hatred. He insulted the army, and made fun of the martyrs of the country. Even in the Rafale case, Rahul Gandhi questioned the court’s decision and then offered apologies when he was grilled,” he added.

Maurya said with an aim to continuously humiliate Modi ji, the Congress, including the Gandhi family, called Modi ji ‘neech’, a ‘thief’, and a ‘merchant of death’.

“Today the court has shown these leaders the place to which they belong,” he concluded.
