BSF seizes arms, explosives from Maoist dump

Saturday, 25 March 2023 | PNS | MALKANGIRI

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel recovered a huge cache of explosives from the Taimal forest in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district on Friday during combing operations against Maoists. The explosives had been stored at an isolated place and were recovered by a team of the 88 Battalion of the BSF.
It was suspected that the explosives were hidden in the dump by the Red rebels with the intention of targeting security personnel in the region.
As per official reports, two guns, two empty SBML shells, 11 hand grenades and 28 detonators besides three steel tiffin boxes and other articles were recovered.
Earlier in 2002, the security forces had recovered a huge quantity of explosives during a combing operation in the same area. The explosive dump was detected by personnel of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF).
