C’garh police launch probe into ransom demand from Jindal

Chhattisgarh Police have lodged a case against a prisoner for sending a letter demanding a ransom of 5 million pounds (Rs 50.16 crore) from industrialist and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal, who owns a steel plant in Raigarh.

The ransom letter which also warned of dire consequences was delivered by post on January 18 at the Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) factory in Patrapali village in Raigarh, a FIR said.

The management immediately approached the police.

A case was registered following a complaint by the steel plant management, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Mahadeva told The Pioneer.
