CM seeks honour for tradition and history of State in naming coal mining projects

Wednesday, 30 August 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Union Minister of Mines and Coal, Government of India, Prahlad Joshi. He has said in his letter that various coal mining projects and private coal projects operated by Coal India Limited should be named according to the local place/ village/ mouza/ panchayat/ block/ great men and scenic places etc. of Jharkhand state.

Soren has requested in the letter that the Government of India is not naming the mineral projects run by Coal India Limited, private companies and other public undertakings on the basis of sentiments, tradition, culture etc. of the local public. Citing the example of Amrapali Coal Project, Ashok Coal Project and Magadh Coal Project, mining projects operating in Chatra district, he said that due respect is not being given to the culture, tradition and history of the local people by going against public sentiments. .

The Chief Minister has demanded that the identity of Jharkhand has been established as a state rich in mineral wealth and it has contributed significantly in the development of the country. Major part of the revenue received from minerals is received from coal mineral itself, which is being continuously exploited. It is requested that the culture, tradition and history of this place should be given due respect.
