Congress protest yet another disorderly flop: BJP

Tuesday, 14 March 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Bharatiya Janata Party has termed the Vidhan Sabha gherao of the Congress a flop. The party alleged that the only intention of the Congress behind this demonstration was to raise ruckus and grab media attention to gain cheap publicity.

The BJP State spokesman Suresh Joshi opined that this attitude of the Congress will prove detrimental to both politics and the Congress itself. Responding to the gherao by the Congress, Joshi said that the demonstration exemplified once again why the Congress is being wiped off villages, cities, the State and across the nation.

The Assembly session is being held in the summer capital Gairsain after a considerable period due to the Covid pandemic and other technical reasons and a healthy and constructive debate on the State’s development is important. However, it is unfortunate that the principal opposition party thought it more important to raise ruckus on the roads instead of debating in the house as per democratic traditions, he said.

“It is sad that the Congress staged a drama in the guise of protest on those very issues on which chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken effective steps approved by both the public and the court. The government has acted effectively on recruitment scams, ensuring transparent and just recruitment of youth to government jobs, a strict anti-copying law, the Ankita Bhandari murder case and other crimes. The protest of the Congress on issues which have already been deflated by both the public and the court was bound to be a flop, as was visible considering the number and enthusiasm of their leaders and party workers.

The Congress has lost yet another chance to improve its image of an irresponsible political party with the rowdy demonstration. However, the Congress displays this very attitude in other States, inside and outside the parliament,” opined Joshi.
