Garhwa DC aborts major land scam in Bhavnathpur

Saturday, 27 May 2023 | M F AHMAD | DALTONGANJ

A land scam has been aborted in Bhavnathpur Anchal in Garhwa district. Had it not been detected and prompt action taken this land scam of Bhavnathpur Anchal would have hit national headlines like that of any other city in Jharkhand.

However sources said the new DC Garhwa Shekhar Jamuar taking swift action put a big halt to this land scam.

A lower division clerk in the Bhavnathpur Anchal Amit Karketta and one Rajaswa Up Nirakchhak Banshi Kumar Pathak have been put under suspension under order of the DC Garhwa. Their headquarters have been fixed at Kandee and Bhandaria block respectively.

A computer operator in the office of the sub registrar Nagar Untari  Roshan Tiwary has been dismissed from the job.

DC Garhwa has written to the secretary revenue, land reforms, registration and secretary personnel department recommending initiation of the departmental proceedings against Bhavnathpur CO Rama Shankar Srivastav and executive magistrate cum sub registrar Ajay Kumar Tirkey of Nagar Untari for their gross negligence and irregularities  in the discharge of official duties.

Jamuar has directed the SDO Nagar Untari to initiate proceedings under Form K against the Incharge CI Intekhab Alam.

The slew of stern and stringent actions  by the DC Garhwa has sent a message to land mafiosi to refrain from any fraudulent land registration activity.

Two land possession certificates having similar date and memo number were issued in respect of 2.80 acres of land at village Kailan under the Bhavnathpur Anchal on 23.2.2023.

It was unlawful and conspiratorial in nature where the land scamsters had the overt and covert support of the unscrupulous government officials.

Again the computer operator Roshan Tiwary  in the office of the sub registrar Nagar Untari deleted the first land possession certificate entry and then surreptitiously entered another land possession certificate for the same plot of land.

DC Garhwa Shekhar Jamuar told this correspondent that it is quite mind boggling that the plot of land against which land possession certificates were issued, was a restricted land and can't be sold off or bought over.

Here the executive magistrate cum sub registrar Nagar Untari Ajay Kumar Tirkey didn't take any pains to verify the plot of land whether it was any restricted plot of land which it was a restricted land most evidently and despite this it was  criminally overlooked or bypassed for obvious material gains.
