Monday, 30 January 2023 | Farooq Qureshi | Bhopal '

The Government should open screening centres and bear expenses of screening same as it was done at the time of Corona pandemic, said Dr Mohammad Sayeeddudin Razack who was in the state capital for a private programme.

He is noted Oncologist, earlier worked with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a cancer research and treatment center located in Buffalo, New York.

He stated that smoking, drinking liquor and having (chewing) tobacco should be strictly restrained as they are the major cancer causing factors.

While talking to ‘The Pioneer’, he said in India over 75 percent of cancer is head or neck cancer due to social habits of tobacco & pan and malnutrition.

Dr Razack said that majority of cases in India are of Advance Stages of cancer which are financially and physically hard to manage and even more problematic in a country with better resources of health support system.

Unfortunately in the present scenario in India patients and even doctors fail to recognize cancer at early stage.

Apart from exceptions early screenings are very helpful in prevention of cancer of advance stages.

Dr Razack is working to fight against cancer for around five decades and at the age of 84, he never looks tired of talking about measures which an individual and institution should take to curb prevalance of cancer.

He has worked for the best of cancer institutes in the globe and concerned about the difficulties and limitations in cancer treatment.

In the latest vaccine for Virus or antigen related with Cancer is under development but at this stage it is not possible to develop, still it is under process to target all kinds of Cancer.

It is next to impossible to find out specific reason causing cancer and earlier causing factors have been used as referrence.

The lack of political will in doing better for cancer treament is main factor of less equipped cancer treatment in India.

Thirty years ago latest technique witnessed great change as tissue was restored by connecting it with blood supply after cancer( tumour or tissue) was removed.

He says, Howard study on cancer managment is positive outlook towards life. Always say half glass full and never say half glass  is empty. Support system of family and freinds is important which collapses with different stages of cancer, he added.
