Jamshedpur kids make the right moves

Jamshedpur kids won the top laurels at the 22nd Jharkhand State Chess Championship 2023 held  at Naman Vidya Hazaribagh.

In the under 7 Boys category , Ridhaan Goyal, son of Mridul & Manisha Goyal, Student of Loyola School aged 5yr 1 month won first prize. Second prize was won by Atharv Adesara, son of Nikhil and Vibhuti Adesara

The above players will represent Jharkhand at the National Chess Under 07 Open Chess Championships at Gurgaon from 20th-25th September 2023.

Atharv has achieved quite a bit in his short journey in chess. 

Meanwhile, the young chess player thanked his mother and father for introducing him to chess. "We started playing with each other when I developed interest and I really started liking the game. I would like to take the game seriously and bring laurels for my State," said Atharv.

Atharv, who hopes to be like his idol, late American great Bobby Fischer aka Robert James Fischer, who became the youngest player to win the US Chess Championship at the age of 14. Besides Fischer, he admires Russian GM Garry Kasparov and Norwegian world champion Magnus Carlsen.
